Fort Garry Women's Resource Centre -- Ways of Giving Back --
Dave Brickwood, Chair of the All Charities Management Board for the 2010, presents a cheque to Francesca Arkley from the FGWRC. Charitable Donations can be made by cheque to the Centre or via credit card through CanadaHelps. FGWRC is pleased to introduce our Tribute Gift Program. The Tribute Gift Program is a wonderful way to honour someone special in your life while making a donation to the Centre. A gift to a friend or loved one in celebration of a birthday, holiday, special event, in appreciation or in remembrance gives twice; once to the celebrant and once to the Centre. Giving a gift to the Centre benefits many women and their families as they participate in programs and services which promote healing and empowerment in their lives. A card will be mailed to the recipient on your behalf.
To give a donation or Tribute Gift, print the attached form and send a cheque in the amount you wish to give. Tax receipts will be issued upon request for gifts of $15 or more. Looking for a gift for a special cook in your life? FGWRC has cookbooks for sale. Recipes for foods such as Hummus, Borscht, Kielke, Holopchie, Tourtiere, Moose Steaks, Anishinaabae Fried Bread reflect the diversity of cultures throughout Manitoba. A highlight is the 24 delectable Cheesecake recipes featured.
Books are $10 each. Proceeds go to helping us work towards the dream of creating a world where women and their children are safe, healthy, valued and empowered. Contact the Centre at 477-1123 for more information. FGWRC Ambassadors Wanted! Fort Garry Women's Resource Centre has been an active support to the community since 1983, providing counselling, groups, information, workshops, referrals and other services to women and their children. There are times when members in the community, such as funding agencies or media, would like to talk to former clients of the Fort Garry Women's Resource Centre about their stories and their experiences at the Centre. They usually want to know about the positive impact the Centre has had on women. We hold all contacts made and all services provided to women in strictest confidence and therefore have never shared this information. However, former clients have told us that they would like to support the Centre by sharing their stories. Former clients have said they would like to tell funders, media or others about the positive impact FGWRC has had in their lives. They know that sharing their stories benefits the Centre by raising awareness about the issues facing women and also about the services we provide. They know these testimonials can result in increased funding, private donations, volunteers and community connections. They see it as their opportunity to be an ambassador for FGWRC and a way to give back to an organization they believe in. The Manitoba Legislature Private Member's Statement from Marilyn Brick, MLA St. Norbert shows what impact your voices have in supporting the Centre. So if you would like to be an ambassador for FGWRC and share your story, please contact Sharon Hunter, Counselling Coordinator at 477-1123 or info@fgwrc.ca. Sharing your story can be done anonymously, through media interviews, through public presentations with a staff member, and through written letters of support. We would discuss the options that you would feel most comfortable with. Your "ambassadorship" can last as long or as short as you like. |
